Facebook Allowed 650,000 Posts Attacking 2020 Election Prior To Capitol Riot

According to a major new report from ProPublica and The Washington Post, there were at least 650,000 posts made on the social media site between election day and January 6th that directly attacked the legitimacy of the 2020 election. This comes out to an average of 10,000 posts per day during that time period. Facebook has tried to downplay their role in hosting this content, but there is no denying the results of this investigation. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

For the past year, Facebook has tried to downplay the role that their platform played in essentially helping stoke the January 6th Capitol riot. And a new report from the Washington Post and ProPublica shows that no matter what Facebook tries to tell us on the surface, the truth is the platform was integral in that January 6th attack on the Capitol because in the days after the 2020 election, but prior to January 6th, Facebook allowed 650,000 posts that either questioned the legitimacy of the 2020 election or called for some kind of revolution because of the election results. That is according to that investigation, again conducted by Washington Post and ProPublica. They went through the records, they found the posts and it averaged at least 10,000 per day between the election and the Capitol riot, 10,000 per day and Facebook wants to tell us like, hey, there was nothing we could do.

We didn't know this was happening. Thousands and thousands and thousands of posts per day and nobody noticed. There were news reports for the record leading up to January 6th of all of the violent posts being shared on sites like Facebook. And we knew this was happening. The FBI knew this was happening. They actually made some arrests of individuals prior to the riot, based on what they'd posted on social media. Everybody knew this, except Facebook says there is no way we could have known. Here's a sampling of some of the posts. Looks like civil war is becoming inevitable. We cannot allow fraudulent elections to san, to stand. Silent no more. Majority must rise up now and demand battleground states not to certify fraudulent elections now. Another one, we are Americans. We fought and died to start our country. We are going to fight, fight like hell. We will save her.

Then we're going to shoot the traders. Another one, Bill Barr, we will be coming for you. We will have civil war in the streets before Biden will be president. It goes on and on. But the bottom line that this investigation is telling us is that there's no way Facebook couldn't have known this. You would've had to have been working at Facebook and been deaf, blind and dumb in order to not have seen what was taking place on your own platform. To know that these things were trending, to know that they were getting thousands of likes, thousands of shares, you know, these things. You saw it, you chose to do nothing. So if you ask me as part of the January 6th committee's investigation, I think it's about time they summon some executives from Facebook to find out how in the hell they missed 650,000 posts, either calling for violence or questioning those election results.
