The red states that are enacting abortion bans also happen to be the worst in the country at providing maternal and postnatal care in the country. This isn't an attack, it is a simple fact. And worst yet, these states are completely unprepared for a post-Roe "baby boom" if the Supreme Court does follow through with their plan to overturn Roe. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

According to new reports. The red states here in America that are working so diligently to ban abortions, statewide are also the states that are least prepared for a baby boom, because they are in fact, the worst states in America for maternal care also, by the way, in postnatal care. So we have these red states out there. Most of whom, not only are they trying to ban abortion, they have banned the expansion of Medicaid. So more low income women do not have access to healthcare. They live in what is called maternity care deserts, where in local areas, there's no place for women to go to have babies. They live in areas where the hospitals do not have an infant center. Like there's nowhere to, to give birth, to properly give birth. I should say, they're not prepared for these kinds of things in the very states that are telling women, you have to birth this child.

So you can go on and on and on all you want about how overturning Roe and enacting these abortion bans as super pro-life. You're not pro-life all you are is anti-choice. If you were pro-life you would be expanding Medicaid coverage, which comes at no cost to you. That's what gets me about this? This is part of the affordable care act. Obamacare. The government is offering to expand it and give you the money for it. You lose nothing, but you don't do it because then of course you would have to admit that yeah, the affordable care act is actually pretty darn good compared to the system we have. Now, if you were actually pro-life, you would be pushing for more funding for more hospitals. So women could actually give birth in a proper setting. You would be pushing for more healthcare coverage. Instead you're enacting these laws, these anti-choice laws in maternal care deserts, which not only puts the infants in danger.

It puts the women in danger because yes, these doctors are, are talented, no matter where they live, whether it's New York city or way out in the boonies, right? They're still doctors. They went to medical school. They're talented individuals, but if this isn't their area of expertise, you know, saving a mother's life when she's having birthing complications, we know what that means. We know what that leads to. And yes, if Roe is overturned, we are going to see a hell of a lot more of that in the United States, because these red states are not pro-life they're pro controlling women's bodies. And if that means having to let women die, because we're not providing any care for them. Well, that's okay. In the minds of these Republicans.
