Over 100 Republican Campaign Ads This Year Have Featured Guns

In more than 100 campaign ads that appeared on TV so far this year, Republican candidates were featured either shooting guns or talking about their love of guns and the 2nd Amendment. This is a large part of the problem with America's gun-obsessed culture, and it doesn't in anyway reflect the country's views on the subject. Most Americans of all political backgrounds are in favor of common sense gun laws that keep firearms out of the hands of dangerous individuals, but Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains why Republicans still love to use this imagery.

As everybody knows the problem in the United States today is the readily available gun, right? You can go near anywhere, a sporting good store, a pawn shop, a gun show, which again is a uniquely American thing. And very weird when you actually start to think about that. But guns, the number of guns is the problem. And a majority of people in this country agree with that. That is not even a controversial statement, but here's the thing. According to a new analysis from the New York times in over 100 campaign ads produced for television this year, over 100 Republican ads featured guns in some way, either it's the candidate out there shooting guns. They're either talking about guns while holding a gun. They're showing pictures of guns. And of course talking about the second amendment while holding or shooting guns over 100 TV ads, different TV ads.

So all of these aired on television featuring guns and Republicans, because that's just what the culture wants, right? If you wanna be a big tough man, or you don't wanna be a scared little woman, you gotta have your gun. You gotta vote for somebody with a gun because the other side who's putting out ads that don't have guns. Clearly they're not as tough. Clearly they're not serious. And clearly they want to come and take your gun away. None of which is true by the way, but that is what Republicans do. Look, I I've mentioned this a hundred times this past week and many continue mentioning it more than 80% of the public supports universal background checks, more than 80% of the public supports red flag laws, more than 70% of NRA members support stricter gun regulations. Majority of this country supports an assault weapons ban the only place where there is any argument really about gun control in the United States is in legislatures, the federal and the state legislatures.

That's where the divide exists among the American public. It's split about 80 to 20, but it's that 20, that 20% that very vocal 20%. Those are the ones you see going on Fox news. Those are the ones you see putting out the tweets about you're not taking my guns. Those are the ones you see on Facebook talking about how Beto O'Rourke they're spreading lies, uh, uh, falsified, by the way, Twitter thing that they've created saying, he's coming to take your guns. That's not a thing. That's the 20%. And in fact, it's actually a little under 20%. That's who that is. And that's who these Republicans

Are pandering to. And these people are so loud that they make you forget that the 80% over here, I'm trying to make it big enough. The 80% over here are the majority, but you'd believe the 20 because they're so loud. And they're so prominently featured among Republicans, but they do not agree. They do not agree with most of us. They don't agree with most of their own party. And that's what we have to realize. Folks, the numbers are on our side. This is not a Democrat issue or a Republican issue. This is a human being issue and most human beings in this country agree with one another hell, more people, more Republicans agree that we should regulate guns than agree that we should do something about climate change.
