Michael Sussman, one of Hillary Clinton's lawyers from her 2016 campaign, has been acquitted of the charges brought against him by John Durham, and Donald Trump is absolutely livid. Trump posted a message on his Truth Social app where he appeared to be in absolute hysterics over the acquittal, but the law has spoken and Trump and Durham once again walk away with nothing. Yesterday, Michael Sussmann, the attorney, one of the attorneys for Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign was acquitted of charges brought against him by John Durham, the special prosecutor that Trump's DOJ had appointed to look into the origins of the Russia investigation. So yet another big failure from the Durham investigation. And of course, Republicans are furious about this. You know, Donald Trump Jr. put out a video talking about how ridiculous this is. Other Republicans, Fox news, everybody ranting and raving about how horrible it is that Sussmann was acquitted by a jury that only had to deliberate for about six hours before turning over the verdict. But nobody was angrier than Donald Trump. So he got on truth social, which he is apparently legally obligated to send out messages on there now and this is what he said. Our legal system is corrupt. Our judges and justices are highly partisan, compromised or just plain scared. Our borders are open. Our elections are rigged. Inflation is rampant.

Gas prices and food costs are through the roof. Our military leadership is woke. Our country is going to hell and Michael's Sussmann is not guilty. How's everything else doing? Enjoy your day. Sounds like somebody's a little angry, right? So here's the deal with Michael Sussmann. And what's really interesting here is the framing that we have seen about the charges against Sussmann for months and months and months, which turned out to be completely false. Let me explain. When the indictment was brought against Michael Sussmann, we were told by the media that the indictment was because Sussmann allegedly lied to the FBI about who he was representing, who he was representing as a client. That client, of course, being the Hillary Clinton campaign. That's not what it actually was. The real issue was whether or not Michael Sussmann lied to the FBI about why he went to them about this supposed back channel between the Trump campaign and a Russian bank. Sussmann had claimed that no, I'm not here on behalf of a client. So it wasn't about who he was representing.

It was about whether or not he was representing a client when he went to the FBI. Sussmann maintained, hey, I just went there because I saw this, looked horrible, turned it over to the FBI. I wasn't doing it because the Hillary Clinton campaign told me to do it. And of course everybody in the Hillary Clinton campaign, we've covered those stories. They went in there and they said, yeah, we knew the link was a little bit tenuous. We didn't have full verification of it, but none of us told Sussmann to go to the FBI with it. We sent it to the media, actually, we wanted them to cover the story and we wanted them to vet the story. Basically see if they can prove it. But we didn't tell Sussmann to go to the FBI. Nah-uh. And so of course the prosecution was unable to prove that the campaign told Sussmann to go to the FBI because that was the heart of the issue. Did the campaign tell Sussmann to go there and then Sussmann lied to them about who sent him? The prosecution could not prove it. Therefore Sussmann was acquitted.

But let's also think for a moment that Durham has been investigating this whole thing for more than three years now, three years, and the best he could do was say, aha, this guy lied to the FBI. Yeah. We got him for perjury. Really?
