During the final days of the Trump administration, Fox News host Sean Hannity actually suggested to the lame duck president that he should consider issuing a pardon to Hunter Biden in an attempt to "smooth things over" with Democrats. Hannity believed that this good will gesture might be enough to keep Democrats off of Trump's back for all of his schemes, which only shows that Hannity knew bad things were about to happen. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

According to text messages between Kayleigh McEnany and Sean nity that of course have been released by the January 6th select committee. It turns out that Hannity had an idea that he proposed to Donald Trump. That of course he told Kayleigh McEnany about that involved Trump pardoning, hunter Biden, you know, from any potential crime, he may have committed to quote smooth things over with the Democrats. According to the conversations that took place. Ity spoke with Trump on January 7th, of course, the day after the capital riot Republicans were scrambling, trying to figure out what the hell they're gonna do. This looks really bad for 'em and Sean Hannity proposed this idea, which according to sources, wasn't originally his idea. Other people smarter people had suggested at first, but nity is the one who took it to the president. And he said, Hey, Don, I'm assuming that's how their conversations go.
What if in order to smooth things over with the Democrats who are already talking impeachment, what if you, pardon hunter Biden? Right? Biden's coming in as the president, we know that his son's in a lot of trouble allegedly. And uh, if you pardon him, you know, that may appease Democrats to the point where they don't feel the need to go after you. Uh, to be honest, not a stupid strategy. It's not the smartest one out there, but it certainly wasn't completely stupid. Right? You want to get people on your side, uh, uh, Sean and Trump understand that you gotta kind of bribe 'em a little bit. So why not bribe them with this hunter Biden? Pardon? Well, ultimately Donald Trump of course, decided to not go through with that. So it died on the vine and that's actually what they said in the text messages eventually is that it died on the vine, but let's think for a moment here about this whole hunter Biden situation, because as I've said, get used to it, cuz you're gonna hear about it.
If Republicans take over in November, that's all they're gonna talk about for two years, we're gonna have congressional hearings. They're probably gonna do their own select committee on hunter Biden. It's gonna be nonstop. So what we know right now of course is that the DOJ is in fact investigating hunter Biden. They're looking into, you know, whether or not he, uh, uh, I, I think taxes are the big issue. That's the main focus. Like did he pay taxes on everything? Did he lie about his income? Was he hiding money somewhere? So that's what it is. It's not that you know, oh no, he pulled a million dollars from China, a billion from China, which is actually what Trump said with no evidence. Um, it it's mainly tax issues. So, you know, kind of the same thing by the way that Trump's being investigated for, by the New York attorney general, did you report all your money and did you pay taxes on it? So that's the main focus of hunter Biden. Of course Republicans like nity himself, who's done more than 300
