A new memo has revealed that Mike Pence may not have been acting out of respect for the Constitution when he refused to take part in Trump's coup plans, and instead may have just been acting on the advice of his lawyer. The memo shows that Pence's lawyer told him that following the coup plan would not end well for him, and that it could very likely end up being illegal. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this new revelation.

Former vice president. Mike Pince has gotten a lot of credit for not going along with Donald Trump's plans to overturn the results of the 2020 election. I've given him a lot of credit. You know, I've sat here and said, I disagree with everything the man's ever done except for this. And he deserves credit for it. I've said that. And unfortunately, I believe I may have spoken too soon because according to a memo recently obtained by Politico from Mike Pence's lead counselor turns out Mike Pence didn't make the decision to not go along with Donald Trump's plans. Only because out of, you know, he has just utmost respect for the constitution. It turns out his lawyer had been advising him. You probably don't wanna do this, bud. You're not gonna get away with it. It's not gonna be successful. You're gonna cut off all your friends. You're gonna lose in court. You're gonna be left with nothing and no one. And you could be facing legal consequences from it.

And it was only after that memo. And of course I'm paraphrasing the memo, but it was only after Pence got that memo that he was like, Hmm, I guess I'm not gonna go along with this plan. After all, maybe he was already on the fence. We don't know that maybe he had already pretty much made up his mind and the memo just helped seal the deal. But whatever it was, he didn't make the decision till one, he was told you're definitely gonna lose two. It might be illegal three. Everybody's going to abandon you in the Republican party. If you do this, which of course we all know means you have no political future and Mike Pence ain't done yet. So that's what it was. Ah, you're gonna have a hard time convincing me that this memo didn't drive that decision from Mike Pence. And of course it makes me wonder how far would Pence have gone?

Had the memo not been written, would he have been willing to go with Donald Trump's plan? Would he have maybe gone with a lesser plan? Would they have maybe tried different avenues if Pence were involved? Like, okay, I'm here, I'm with you, but we can't do it this way. What if we try this? How much did this memo inform Mike Pence's decision? That is what I want to know. And I think it has past time for Mike Pence to show up in front of this January 6th committee and be treated like the. He is not, not like a hero, not like the savior. Let's get his story from his own mouth first, you know, for as far as we can trust him with it because this new information definitely cast Mike Pence in a negative light. So we need to know the truth. When exactly did you make the decision to not go along with this plan? Was it only after you were told it would fail only after you were told you could be in trouble, if you do it or had you already decided weeks ago, you weren't gonna have any of it. You were gonna do your job in the, uh, you know, joint session and then move on with your life. I think the public deserves to know that before many people continue to declare Mike, Pince the hero of January 6th,
