During an appearance on Fox News, Lindsey Graham attempted to defend his federal abortion ban proposal saying that the so-called "pro-life" crowd would have REVOLTED if he hadn't made the proposal. While some Republican lawmakers have said that they support the ban, most of the Republican Party is appalled that Graham would propose such a stupid thing during a contentious election cycle while also abandoning the GOP's "state's rights" mantra. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Lindsay Graham went on Fox news this past weekend to talk about his nationwide abortion ban legislation that he has proposed. And he was asked by Fox news, host, Shannon, Bre, basically, why the hell are you doing this? Because Bree brought up the fact that this is a state's rights issue, man. We've been saying that as conservatives for a long time, and here you come along and you push it out nationally, you undercut all the talking points we have ever had on the issue. You're really hurting the party here to which Lindsay Graham responded. Um, elected officials can make the decisions state or federal I'm not inconsistent. He said, but then he went on to say that if he hadn't done this, the pro-lifers the so-called pro-lifers out there. The forced birthers let's just call him that the forced birthers out there. He says would've revolted. Here's his exact quote. If you tell the pro-life movement that we can't, uh, set some national standard to prevent Chinese abortion policy in Maryland, California, there will be a revolt by the pro-life community. The people are with me.

Uh, they're not though, like, have you literally looked at any poll at all? Lindsay, like any poll on this issue whatsoever is gonna tell you right off the bat, the people are not. In fact with you, the people, the vast majority of them are actually against you. And by the way, that even goes for red states where they're passing these abortion bans. Do you remember the election in Kansas? Just about a month ago where Republicans got their asses handed to 'em because the public said, no, we actually don't want an abortion ban in this state. Nobody is with you except for the hard line crazies who are so out of touch with what this country actually wants, that they're living out in LA LA land. Just like you, apparently Lindsay, oh, they were gonna revolt. Let 'em to hell with them. What are they gonna do?

A bunch of angry Christian conservatives that are too weak to do anything about anything. They wouldn't have done, Lindsay. And you know that you're just trying to cover yourself, make sure that nobody blames you when this comes back and bites you. And in addition to not paying attention to the polls, how about the fact that you're clearly not paying attention to some of the most far right candidates out there scrubbing the abortion sections off of their websites, right? So if you go to their campaign websites, there's nothing on there about abortion whatsoever because they know it's a losing issue. They as nutty, as they are, are still somehow smarter than you Lindsay. And you've been doing this for 30 years. The big problem of course is the fact that there are some people who are with him and I'm not talking about the nutty folks out there, uh, throughout the country. I'm talking about some lawmakers, Marco Rubio has come out and said, yeah, I'd support this Senate candidate. Herschel Walker says, yeah,
