There were lots of developments yesterday with regard to Ron DeSantis, uh, kidnapping plot, which I think is what we need to be calling that now, uh, the Bahar county sheriff in Texas announced that he has opened an investigation into these events because he says these people were misled. He kept repeating the phrase, false pretenses, and even mentioned that that phrase false pretenses is what all of this hinges upon. He put out a video yesterday, announcing the investigation. He said he was very angry about it, which of course is a great thing. It means he's gonna take it seriously. But even before that Baha county sheriff came out and announced that investigation that of course, as we all know, has the potential to completely ruin Ron DeSantis life, which is great. Judd Legum for popular info had gotten his hands on the actual brochures that these migrants were given in order to lure them. And by the way, that is what the Behar sheriff referred to this as they were lured onto those planes. And here's what those brochures shared. Again, Judd Legum popular info is the one who, uh, originally shared this. He he's the one who got the, the brochures. The brochure says that migrants who arrive in Massachusetts will be eligible for numerous benefits, including eight months cash assistance assistance with housing, food, clothing, transportation, to job interviews, job training, job placement, registering children for school assistance, applying for social security cards and many other benefits.

None of that, that was listed in that brochure is true. Those are not things that the state of Massachusetts offers, but these migrants, asylum seekers really, uh, they were here in the country. Legally. They were legally in the United States were filled with promises that turned out to be complete lies. Had they not been told these lies, they likely would not have gone. So here's the thing, what is prosecutable and what is not right? I think that's what everybody wants to get to the heart of. Um, there is the possibility of a misuse of government funds in paying for the flights, uh, paying for the mystery woman named Perla who offered cash bounties. We still don't know who that person really is. So definitely potential for abuse, uh, uh, of government funds or misusing government funds the flights themselves moving the migrants from Texas to Massachusetts that is not illegal. Now paying for the flights might be like I said, but because these people were asylum seekers, they had been processed so far. They are legally allowed to move about the United States. So moving them from one area to another

Is not prosecutable. So we are not looking at any possible human smuggling or, uh, maybe trafficking because what is prosecutable is loading these people up under false pretenses, which of course is what the Bahar county sheriff says he is looking into. So those false pretenses could easily result in either kidnapping or trafficking charges, because typically that is how those things operate. Especially with trafficking. People are promised one thing, they go along with it only to find out that it was a total lie. And now they're trapped kind of sounds like the situation with those asylum seekers that were sent up to Massachusetts. Doesn't it? So it is prosecutable. If they lied to these people, you have fraud, you have possible trafficking abuse of government funds. You do not have any human smuggling. Moving them to Massachusetts itself is not illegal, but the means with which they did it, that might be the smoking gun.
