So yesterday, uh, it was announced early in the morning that more classified documents had been found in President Biden's garage in his personal home. Later in the day, Merrick Garland did announce that he was appointing a special prosecutor, a former US attorney appointed by Donald Trump. So now we got a Trump guy investigating Biden's document scandal. But in between those two things happening, president Biden took questions from the press where Peter Ducey from Fox News tried to, tried to get one in on the president, and Biden did the most Biden thing ever, and this is how he responded. Yes, as well as my Corvette. Um, but as I said earlier this week, people know I take classified documents and classified materials seriously. I also said, we're cooperating fully and completely with the Justice Department's review. As part of that process, my lawyers reviewed other places where documents in my, uh, and of, from my time as vice president were stored, and they finished the review last night. They discovered a small number of documents of classified markings and storage areas and file cabinets in my home, in my, in my, my, my personal library.
So I love that Biden's like bringing up the Corvette, right? That is classic Biden. It really is. You know, whether you love him or hate him, I don't know. I just kind of really like that. Um, but here's the thing. After he talks about the Corvette, of course, um, he goes right into the standard spiel that you could tell, like was probably written by his lawyers, where he says, listen, yep, they found these things. We've been cooperating every time we've found them. We've turned them into the appropriate, uh, uh, people just like we're supposed to. So he's going through and he is letting everybody know that, yeah, okay, I know probably looks bad, and it does look bad. Like the optics of this could not have come at a worse possible time for President Biden. Not only do we have the document scandal with Donald Trump, but also Biden's approval rating was ticking higher than it had been in over a year.
So, Biden's doing great and then gets hit with this. Uh, you know, again, if you wanna call it a scandal, I guess maybe it is, it's certainly bad optics. Like that's not going to help his approval rating, and it certainly isn't going to help the ongoing investigation into Trump. Even though, as I explained the other day, there is no similarity between these two scandals. Trump was given a year to cooperate, to turn over the documents. The National Archives did not want to have to go to the DOJ and get them involved. They just wanted their documents back. And had Trump done that, we likely would've never even known that it happened. And even if we did, it would've been a story for about a day. I'm sure we would've done a segment on it, and then we would've moved on and everybody would've forgotten about it.
But it was the lying, it was the obstruction. And of course, all of that led to the FBI going to Mar-a-Lago. And now, of course, the federal case.
