Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott is not happy about new reports that suggest that Tucker Carlson's firing from Fox News was actually a secret part of their settlement with Dominion Voting Systems, and Abbott said that Dominion is lucky that they don't do business in Texas. He then went on to make it clear that he will abuse his power to exact retribution against the company, possibly opening himself up to a lawsuit from the company. Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott is absolutely furious at Dominion Voting Systems for getting Tucker Carlson kicked off the air on Fox News, and by God, he doesn't care if he has to abuse his power as governor of Texas to show Dominion whose boss. Now. Recently reports came out from Axios suggesting that the firing of Tucker Carlson was actually a part of the settlement with Dominion. Like that was something the two parties agreed to. According to this report from AXS behind the scenes, obviously not in the written portion of the settlement, but just a verbal agreement that if we agree to this, you guys fire Tucker Carlson. That is what the Axios report claims. And after that report came out, that's when Greg Abbott went ballistic and basically threatened to abuse his power to punish Dominion voting systems. Here's what he said. We may disagree with others' positions, but we should never try to improperly silence views contrary to our own.

If Dominion wants to do business with Texas in the future, they should first answer questions about what role, if any, they played in silencing a prominent conservative journalist. Let's be very clear about something here. You idiot. Um, Tucker Carlson is not a journalist. Tucker Carlson is an on-air personality. The journalist is the individual that actually goes out there and finds and reports on the story. They are the storytellers. They are the ones who uncover the truth. You know, they're the ones on the ground going and talking to people. Those are journalists. Tucker Carlson sits in his mansion and then goes down to his little, uh, basement and films his TV show. That's not journalism, that's being an on-air personality. So, just so we're clear about the two differences there. Furthermore, you as the governor of the state who would have, you know, ultimate veto power, I guess you could call it, over whether or not to give Dominion voting systems a contract in your state to provide services for your elections, you cannot threaten them. You cannot make them jump through any additional hoops that other companies who may be vying for a similar contract would not have to jump through. See, that would actually be illegal for you to do that. Yet here you are making it clear as day on Twitter this past Saturday, that if Dominion wants to do business, business in Texas, they're gonna have to jump through other hoops that other companies aren't gonna have to do.

Now, he may have saved himself from a potential lawsuit by saying,

If Dominion wants to do business in Texas, so that if could be a big factor. And he says they should first answer questions, not that they have to, just that they should. And believe it or not, yes, that specific language could let Abbott off if he were to get sued for basically discriminating against dominion voting systems. You know what's great about Dominion voting systems? Even though this idiot right here on Twitter said like, oh, you're stifling conservative voices. You know what's great about Dominion? I don't know their politics. You don't know their politics. Greg Abbott doesn't know their politics. We don't know if these folks, the people who own it, the people who run it, the people who work at it, we don't know if they're on the left. We don't know if they're on the right.
