Texas Sheriff Refers DeSantis Investigation For Criminal Charges

The Texas sheriff that has been investigating the migrant flight that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis organized last year (the first of many since that time) has now referred the case for potential criminal charges to the District Attorney's office in Bexar County, Texas. This is a major development that could have a massive impact on DeSantis' political future - as well as his future as a free man, based on the potential charges he could be facing. There is a chance that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis may be arrested in the near future. The Texas sheriff that has been investigating for nearly a year now, Ron DeSantis first migrant flights, the one from San Antonio, made a couple of stops and then it went up to Martha's Vineyard. I believe that happened last August, September. Well, a local Texas sheriff has been investigating that in Bahar County because that's where it occurred. That's his jurisdiction. And yesterday, this sheriff Javier, uh, Salazar, recommended to the district attorney of Bahar County criminal charges both felony and misdemeanor for those responsible for the migrant flights. Now, according to all the reports I've read about this, and I've read as many as I can trying to find that information, I cannot find anywhere where it specifically says, Ron DeSantis is the target of these potential criminal charges. And of course that is important.

And of course that is why I said Ron DeSantis may be arrested because we don't know who these criminal charges are necessarily against. We do know that the criminal charges involve, uh, what is it? Uh, unlawful restraint and several counts Were also filed both with misdemeanor and felony implications. So unlawful restraint is a fun way to say kidnapping. Basically what happened in case you need a refresher is you had the mystery woman named Perla who went out there promised these migrants, Hey, get on this plane. We'll take you to Martha's Vineyard up there. You will have a job, you will have healthcare. Your children will have access to schools. Everything you need is there, so come get on the plane and let's get you to Martha's Vineyard.

All of that didn't happen. None of it was true. So she, from somebody's direction, which we're assuming obviously came from Ron DeSantis or his administration, she lured these people onto this plane under false pretenses and shipped them to another part of the country. And technically it wasn't even the part of the country. She said they were, they were gonna drop 'em off in cuz she didn't tell them it was gonna be Martha's Vineyard. So you took people to a place after lying that you were taking 'em to a different place under false pretense pretenses. So yeah, that's kidnapping or as Texas put it, unlawful restraint. Either way, this is now in the hands of that district attorney in Bahar County, Texas. Hopefully that DA does the right thing and moves forward with these criminal charges because as we know, Ron DeSantis is still flying migrants all around the country. Just to get him out of Florida, even though his own Republicans on Monday this week had to, had to hold a meeting with business leaders begging them, please, you know, don't let your migrants leave the state because we need their cheap labor.

So yeah, a bit of a mixed message here in the state of Florida. I'll give you that. But you also had California Governor Gavin Newsom this week dangle kidnapping charges in front of Ron DeSantis on Twitter. So Ron DeSantis may think he's scoring big political victories by spending millions of dollars of our money in the state of Florida to ship these migrants all over the country. But states are fighting back and there may not be anything that DeSantis can do to avoid criminal charges as this moves forward.
