So conservative media this week decided to take a side in the wildfire pollution that has blanketed the northeast of the United States. And unfortunately, conservative media, Fox News News Max, they actually took the side of the pollution by telling their audiences that, ah, this is no big deal. Doesn't matter that the sky is orange. It actually looks pretty cool. And hey, all that wood burning just kind of smells like a barbecue right now. I wish I was making these things up, but these are things that Fox News and Newsmax suggested this week while defending the pollution. Take a look. Here's a clip. This is Fox News. Uh, guest Steve Milloy, who happened to serve as one of Donald Trump's, uh, transition team members for the E P A. He is also a fossil fuel lobbyist. And here is what this idiot had to say about the pollution on Fox News this week. Take a look.
Look, the air is ugly. It's unpleasant to breathe and for a lot of people, they get, uh, anxiety over it. But the reality is there's no health risk. Okay? There's, uh, EPA research. They've done lots of clinical research on, uh, asthmatics, on elderly asthmatics, on children, on elderly with heart disease. Um, not a cougher, a wheeze from any of 'em. We have this kind of air in India and China all the time. Um, no public health emergency.
Speaking of, do you, do you notice like in all the coverage of, you know, bill Weir, the tailpipes, all this stuff, they never ever mentioned the fact at the top that China is the number one polluter in the world. Never. Yeah, this
Is like clean air in China. I mean, it's really bad. Uh, you know, they in the winter, they never turn on their scrubbers for the air pollution cuz they don't care. Weir has no idea what he's talking about. This doesn't kill anybody. This doesn't make anybody cough. This is not a health event. This has got nothing to do with climate. First off these, this is wildfire smoke. This is natural. This is not because of climate change. amazing. It's not because of a fossil fuel, you know, uh, internal combustion engines. He just has no idea what he's talking about.
Um, let's go ahead and point out the fact that everything that dude just said right there is completely wrong. Yes, it is making people cough. Yes, it is causing respiratory distress, especially among people who have conditions like asthma. That's what air pollution does. And to say that, oh, India and China, they're totally fine. They have worse air pollution and nothing bad ever happens to them. Um, you do know how wrong that is, right? I mean, studies in India have shown that the air pollution there is so bad that it shortens the average person's lifespan by 10 years. And over in China, since you brought them up two, uh, two, since the year 2000, there's been an estimated 30 million residents in China that have died due to complications that they got from air pollution because air pollution, including that which comes from wildfires, causes conditions like stroke, heart disease, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and respiratory infections. So yes, China and India are suffering from these things. Yes, people do talk about it, by the way, but if you think that idiot was bad, wait until you see what Greg Kelly from NEWSMAX had to say about how awesome that orange, New York city sky has been this week.
