Trump's Rivals Are Begging Wealthy Donors To Get Off The Sidelines And Help Stop Trump

Donald Trump's Republican rivals in the GOP presidential primary, along with some Republican strategists, are begging wealthy Republican donors to finally get off the sidelines and get into the game to help defeat Trump. Many high profile Republican donors have decided to sit out the primary contest because of the lack of a clear alternative to Trump, but now these candidates - Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis, specifically - are telling donors that they can't stop him without their help. But it may be too little, too late, even if the donors open their wallets, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

According to a new report from the New York Times, Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley are making a last ditch effort to effectively beg big time Republican donors to please for the love of God, stop sitting on the sidelines, get in the game and give me all of your campaign cash that we know you wanna give. So please give it to me before Donald Trump becomes unstoppable. Now, Nikki Haley has been going up and up and up in the polls. Ron DeSantis has not. Nikki Haley is actually now at the point where in some of the polls she has overtaken Rhon DeSantis as the second place, uh, uh, candidate, but at the same time still trailing Donald Trump by at least 40 points in every single poll. So DeSantis and Haley kind of tied for second, but Trump's got this commanding lead and both Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis are running out of time, but more importantly, they're running out of money.

And that is why according to the New York Times, these candidates are begging these Republican donors to please open your hearts, but more importantly, open your wallets so that I can take down this guy and I can become the nominee and we might be able to save the Republican party in the process. They're saying, uh, that's not gonna happen. The reason these big money Republican donors are sitting on the sidelines in the first place is because they were waiting to see if any of the other candidates could emerge as somebody who might be able to take down Donald Trump. Now, earlier this year, before he announced his official candidacy, Ron DeSantis had actually won over these people and they started giving him money, but then once he announced and immediately fell in the polls, these big money donors said, okay, we're pulling back. We're not gonna give you anything else because you're not doing well.

And Trump is still going up. Even after he gets indicted, he keeps going up. You can't make a dent, we're not gonna give you any more money. We're gonna wait and see if it's somebody else. And the other person they thought could have done it after these people left DeSantis. And by the way, uh, just to point this out, you can go back through our videos here on Ring of Fire. We talked about all of this as it happened. I'm just kind of doing a recap, but they thought that maybe Tim Scott would be the guy to take over from Ron DeSantis. Well, things are actually so bad in the Tim Scott campaign that he announced yesterday, or not yesterday, Monday, I guess, uh, that he was canceling his ad buy for the fall, like for the entire season. Like, Hey, we got three months of ads. Uh, screw it. We can't afford any of them. And Tim Scott's campaign basically made it clear that, yeah, Donald Trump has such a big lead, there is nothing we can do to stop it.

So Tim Scott was kind of giving the white flag signaling, you know, what we're about to drop out. So Tim Scott's not gonna be the guy getting this corporate money. Ron DeSantis has proven that even if you give him tons of money, he's not good at it, so he's not gonna get it. So could Nikki Haley be the beneficiary of this large s from the, uh, wealthy donor class? Maybe, but at this point, isn't it too little, too late? We have less than three months now until that first Republican primary, okay, things are coming up fast. There is no time for a candidate to finally find their footing.
