The Koch network thinks they can buy the Republican Party's way out of trouble, and they are planning on one final, and very large, spending push to prevent Trump from becoming the Republican nominee. But all of their money and influence wasn't able to stop him in the past, so why would they think that they can make a difference now that Trump is running away with the nomination? Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

According to a new report from the New York Times, the Koch network, you know, groups like Americans for Prosperity and other groups out there that the Koch network is funding. They're going all in on a last ditch effort to prevent Donald Trump from becoming the Republican nominee in 2024. And based on the reports, it appears that they are desperately trying to push Nikki Haley into that top spot. They have pledged to spend tens of millions of dollars to convince the public, or at least the Republican side of the public, that Trump ain't the guy. In fact, they've gone as far as to send out mailers that say, quote, you can stop Biden by letting go of Trump. The only way we defeat Biden is to get rid of Donald Trump. And they've also actually, you know, made some smart arguments saying that, listen, Trump is gonna hurt Republicans all down the ticket. Nikki Haley, on the other hand, does not do that. So if you wanna lose the White House, the house and the Senate, go ahead and stick with Trump. But if y'all wanna have a chance of maybe having everything in our control, you need to think about dumping Donald Trump.

Now, the question I have for the Koch network is why are we waiting till the last couple days of November to spend tens of millions of dollars to stop Trump? Right? The voting begins in Iowa on January 15th, so we're a month and a half away from the voting. Kind of seems like if you had tens of million dollars to spend stopping Donald Trump, you'd have done it. I don't know, over the summer, may, may, maybe as far back as the spring. Hell, you could have started a year ago. But right now, as we're like crossing the finish line, you're like, all right, let's go ahead and see what we can do here. Oh, the race is over. Like, that's what the Koch network is effectively doing. Like, oh, don't worry. Here we, oh, wow. Everybody's already crossed the finish line. Yek. Oh, well you can't say we didn't try, right?

Um, this is stupid. This is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. But at the same time, I'm glad because I want y'all to waste your money. I hope you blow tens of millions of dollars. I hope it's all going straight down the toilet and you never get it back. You are a group, a network that does not promote anything that benefits the average American citizen. You're not out there fighting to protect the environment. You're fighting to pollute it. You're fighting to pollute the conversation about climate change. You're fighting to allow corporations to price gouge American consumers. You're fighting to keep drug prices high. You're fighting to keep fossil fuels out there. You are fighting against everything that this country needs. So I hope you waste all your money, and I hope at the end of it that you're left penniless and still have Donald Trump at the top of your ticket because he is political poison. You're right about that. You're just a little off with your timing and definitely way late with your messaging.
