Lawyer Tries To Use Giuliani's Age As Excuse For Why He Keeps Attacking Election Workers

The second day of Rudy Giuliani's defamation lawsuit trial got off to a horrific start for him, as the judge demanded to know why he kept smearing the two election workers even after he had been found liable in a summary judgement for defamation. His lawyer did his best to excuse these actions, but the argument fell flat. The lawyer tried to claim that Giuliani's advanced age is to blame for his comments, and the judge didn't buy that for a second. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what happened.

Rudy Giuliani's Defamation trial got underway this week. And of course that is the trial that was, uh, you know, from the lawsuit filed against him by Ruby Freeman and Shay Moss, the two Georgia election workers that Rudy Giuliani defamed from here to Eternity. And for the record continues for some strange reason to defame them this very week, even though he's already gotten the pretrial judgment saying he is liable for the defamation against these women. So the trial this week, just in case anybody's not aware of it, is only to determine how much money he's gonna have to these two women. It is a jury trial, not like Donald Trump's trial in New York. 'cause apparently Giuliani's lawyers did fill out the paperwork properly, unlike Alina HaBO with Trump in New York. But otherwise, similar situation, right? Your liability's been determined. We are just haggling over a price here.

And things got off to a bad start this week when Giuliani showed up 20 minutes late on Monday. His lawyer then repeatedly objected to evidence that he had previously said was totally okay, and then things got even worse, because Monday afternoon, the first day of the trial, Giuliani leaves, he goes out and he talks to reporters and he starts trashing Ruby Freeman and Shey Moss again, like saying these ridiculously crazy things about these two women that are totally untrue. So, Tuesday, they go back into the court and, uh, judge Beryl Howell, uh, chief US District Judge, she's the one overseeing this, she confronts Giuliani's lawyer about it, Joseph Sibley, because Mr. Sibley had already said on Monday in court, he said, these are good women. You know, these are two very good women. So he kind of refuted his own client by saying, Hey, these are good people over here.

Knowing that, and then knowing that Giuliani left and just totally defamed these women. Once again, judge Howell asked Sibley, um, she asked him, she goes, how do you reconcile this? Like with, you say they're good women, and then he's still defaming. How do you reconcile that? The judge asked, and he goes, I'm, I'm not sure how it's reconcilable. He then said, this has taken a bit of a toll on him talking about Giuliani. I mean, he's almost 80 years old. I think he was sitting here all day at trial at his age, and then he just kind of trailed off. So he is like, Hey, I know I said they're good women. And then I know he went outside and defamed him. But, but Judge, I mean, look at him. He's old. I mean, eh, he's an old crotchety man, who got tired of sitting here all day, even though he showed up late. So, you know, forgive him for defaming people. He's just old and tired, I'm sorry, but, if I had to hire a lawyer, I

I mean, look at him. got one foot in the grave already. I'd be like, dude, would you like, you're on my side, like, you're hurting my feelings now.
