Republican Insider Says Trump Is Scamming His Supporters Through His Super PAC

A former Republican insider that is now a Never Trumper says that the former President is using his Political Action Committee to "fleece" his supporters. He's doing this, Tim Miller says, by not being completely honest about where the money that they are sending him is going, and that he's using most of it to cover his legal fees. The only problem is that this is perfectly legal, and polls of his supporters say that they are GLAD he's using their money to fight his legal battles. A former Republican insider who has since turned like so many others into a Never Trumper, told M-S-N-B-C this week that Donald Trump is essentially fleecing his supporters through his scam of a super pac. Now, this former Republican insider man by the name of Tim Miller says that Donald Trump is, of course, as we know from the financial disclosure statements, using his Save America Political Action Committee as well, to be honest, his own personal piggy bank to pay his legal fees. Now, this super PAC could be used, you know, to support Trump's campaign, although there are rules, you know, he can't do too much with that. But it could be used to help other Republicans. It could be used to fund, get out the vote efforts to, you know, get people to go vote for him. But instead, Trump is receiving millions of dollars from his supporters and a ton of it millions and millions is just straight up going to pay for his lawyers.

He has the money to pay for his own lawyers. He doesn't want to. So Miller says effectively that he's just fleecing these people. Here's how this exchange went down. Uh, Chris Janssen hosted M-S-N-B-C asked him this question. Donald Trump's legal woes are also costing him an awful lot of money, but he has it because according to com campaign finance reports filed with the FEC this summer, Trump's Save America Super Pac spent 20 million on legal fees in the first six months of this year. Two thirds of his political operations, total spending in the first half of this year, legal fees. His supporters just keep sending him money. So Jansen asked Miller specifically after that preface, he said, does that continue indefinitely, do you think? Or is there a bottom? Is there a point at which people say, okay, these 20 emails I'm getting every day asking me for money, I can't keep sending you 20 bucks.

And this is what Miller had to say. I think if he loses in 2024, it might stop. And then he said that Trump is quote, running the definition of a scam pack right now, and people are funding his legal fees. But Miller then added that some people are happy to keep giving him money as long as he keeps winning in the polls and they don't really care how he's spending it. And Miller highlights two distinct problems here, and they're both accurate. Yes, Donald Trump using his fundraising apparatus, not just the super pac, but like the emails and all that stuff, using that to raise money, telling people, ah, I'm gonna win this campaign and then spinning it on legal fees. That should be a problem. Unfortunately, due to the laws we have regulating Super pacs, he's totally allowed to do that. There is nothing even close to illegal about Donald Trump doing that. And, and that's a problem. That is a real problem. It should be, but it's not. The second issue that Miller brings up is that a lot of his supporters don't care.

There was actually a, uh, a, a recent article, I, I did a segment on that at the time when it came out where, um, a bunch of these Trump supporters talked to reporters and they told them, well, the reporters asked like, Hey, Trump spent your money on his legal fees and he's allegedly a billionaire. Are you cool with that? You're giving him money, you can barely afford to do that, and he's just using it to pay for his legal fees that he could just pay for himself. And the supporters one right after the other said.
