4:14Now PlayingKari Lake made a name for herself after losing the 2022 gubernatorial election in Arizona by trashing Republicans all over the state. Now that she needs their support as she runs for Senate, she's been traveling the state on what is being called an "apology tour" to make nice with the people she attacked. But it isn't working. In fact, Republicans across the state are turning on her as she tries to pretend that she never said what she actually said. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Currently in the state of Arizona. And for the last several weeks, Kari Lake, who is running for Senate, of course, has been going on with the media's describing as a quote, apology to her because Ka Lake has made a lot of enemies within the Republican party itself in Arizona ed. So she's got a lot of fences to mend if she wants to get their support for her Senate campaign. And of course, the most public of those, which we have talked about multiple times, is, uh, her trying to make amends to Meghan McCain who told her quote, no, peace. So, you know, the, the first one didn't go so well. But the McCain family is not the only group of people that Carrie Lake is off. Let's not forget following her loss in the 2022 gubernatorial race in Arizona, Carrie Lake made a lot of enemies, right?
She attacked the, uh, uh, Republican governor, Doug Ducey. She was attacking the current chair at the time of the Republican Party. She was attacking Republican lawmakers in the state, all of these people for not overturning her election results. So she went scorched earth against them. And now that she's running for office again, she realizes, oh crap, those are people that are widely respected, that are still super powerful and have a lot of sway over the public, and I have got to make peace with them, or else I stand no chance in this race. So, according to new reports from the newer types, journalist Kellen Browning highlighted the fact that Lake Senate campaign is one driven by hope for reconciliation as the 2022 GOP gubernatorial candidate is courting former foes and trying to mend fences. Uh, lakes failed run for governor included bashing late US Senator John McCain during his camp during campaign events, personally offending former Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, as well as her 2022 primary rival Karen Taylor Robson, and consistently denying 2020 presidential election results.
Lake specifically accused Ms. Robeson of trying to buy the election with her 95-year-old husband's, millions and blasted Mr. Ducey as do nothing, ducey. She also told McCain supporters during a 2022 campaign event to get the hell out. But last month said during an interview that her comment was made in jest, uh, Browning reports that Lake has quote, reached out privately to Ducey Robson, and of course, Megan McCain, uh, and other establishment Republicans, according to six people with knowledge of the outreach as the failed GOP candidate has expressed regrets about her past behavior according to one of the people. So Ka Lake is so, she's so sad. Like, why did I say those things? Why, why would I ever be so mean to you? Good folks, you're great at your jobs and I've loved you since day one. I was, I was just joking around. She says like the McCain comments, like
It was totally a joke. I mean, come on. Waka Waka, right? This, this is pathetic even for Kari Lake. And I didn't think Carrie Lake could get any more pathetic. I mean, she has been smacked down by every single court she has gone in front of in Arizona. It's been hilarious to watch, but it's been very pathetic too, and it's getting even worse. 'cause Ka Lake desperately wants power and Ka Lake has zero power.
