Democrats Shouldn't Save Republican Speaker From Majorie Taylor Greene

So as we all know, Marjorie Taylor Greene a week ago actually introduced a motion to vacate the speakership, which would effectively if passed remove. Mike Johnson is the current Republican speaker of the house. And Republicans in the house are not happy about this because they understand that we're only gonna have a one vote majority and it would be very easy if we're not all together for the Democrats to win that simple majority vote and put a Democrat as the new speaker of the house of course, because Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced this like the moment re uh, the house went on recess for two weeks. We still have at least another week before this issue even comes up. Marjorie Taylor Greene may, you know, remove it. However, she's actually indicated that she wants to handle this behind closed doors and still remove Speaker Johnson. So the likelihood of her removing it probably not gonna happen.

But the Democrats this week did something exceptionally stupid. They have suggested that they might be willing to save Mike Johnson's speakership if he cuts a deal with them. I'll tell you what the deal is in a minute and, and, and it's a deal. It's like I kind of support it. But at the same time, the overall plan is also still very dumb. Now the Democrats wanna bring a massive Ukraine aid package to the floor. It was already passed by the Senate. They just need to pass it in the house. So what they're telling Johnson is you bring this to a floor vote so we can get this passed and get the aid to the people of Ukraine who do desperately need it. I'm not against the aid package at all, but at the same time, you don't need to make a deal with the devil to get that done.

I mean, you could let Johnson get removed, understanding that Republicans will not be unified in picking a speaker. And if you get like two or three defections, then we get a Democratic speaker of the house, then you bring the aid package to the floor, we pass it and we get the power right? Like why would that not be your go-to why are Democrats always coming from a position of, well, we'll make some concessions and not, do you know what we could do if you'll just do these things for us? Grow a pair for God's sakes. You have the opportunity to do not only something politically wonderful, but also hilarious, which is to have a Republican majority but a Democratic speaker because those idiots can't get all their ducks in a row. So why are you already suggesting we'll compromise, we'll negotiate. No, you have all the power. Don't

Use it to immediately try to concede, instead flex that muscle. And if it doesn't work the first time, then say, okay, we'll take a step back, then we'll negotiate, but stop trying to make concessions before you've even tried to do something bold. That is what is just infuriating about the Democratic Party. So much like you have a golden opportunity here to actually do something good to help the country and before you even have the chance to make a move, you're already trying to make concessions.
