4:26Now PlayingStephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former aide to Melania Trump who has become an outspoken critic of the former First Lady in recent years, trashed Melania this week for remaining completely silent about the hush money trial. Melania was one of the few people in Trump's orbit who never showed up to support him during the trial, and it isn't hard to understand why that is. But Melania had a chance to take a stand on the issue and failed miserably, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Throughout Donald Trump's hush money trial in Manhattan, we have seen his children show up in court to support him. We have seen his favorite lawyer, Alina Habba, who's not on the case, but she showed up a lot to support him. Republican Senators, Republican members of the House of Representatives, Republican Attorneys General from the states, Republican governors. Everybody showed up to show how much they loved Donald Trump during that trial. But there's one person that was notably missing from literally every day of the trial, and she's the one probably most affected by what's happening here. And that person happens to be Donald Trump's wife Melania, who never once, not one single time, showed up at that courthouse to support her husband as his lawyers defended him paying off a former porn star when he cheated on her with Stormy Daniels. So, you know, kind of understand why Melania is not there.
But at the same time, it's also very telling that Melania is not there. And one person who knows Melania better than most people, is a former aide by the name of Stephanie Winston Wolkoff. Now, Wolkoff has, of course, become a very staunch Melania critic in recent years. She even wrote a book. But she actually wrote an op-ed this week where she absolutely torched Melania and more importantly, let the public know why Melania acts the way that she does. And spoiler alert, it's because she's a horrible human being. Let me read you this from the op-ed. Melania Trump isn't an enigma or a mystery. She is simply self-possessed, stoically guarded, and emotionally armored. She lives by the same principle. She's a ruthless survivor and opportunist, willing to do whatever it takes to resort to any means necessary for self-preservation. She's mastered the art of complicity.
Complicity, excuse me. Melania's existence is predicated on always minimizing the impact of Donald's often despicable behavior. Her defense mechanism is her ability to lock the door and throw away the key to most anything that brings her emotional discomfort. The secret to her happiness is to be authentically and unapologetically skin deep. Melania never had any great expectations of Donald as a faithful husband or dotting father. And then she gets into the heart of it, says that Melania once told her, quote, just let him do what he's going to do. Why get in a fight about something that won't change? Little did I realize how merciless and unscrupulous she was in her relentless pursuit of power. Melania like Donald had told me many times that she wanted to win and that meant at all costs. In other words, Melania is just as big of a piece of crap as everybody else in the Trump family.
Just because she's not an actual blood part of the family tree doesn't mean she doesn't share the same disgusting traits. She wants to win. She wants to get ahead. It's all about her, her, her, her, her. And if that means overlooking the fact that your husband is on trial for a secret payment that he made through his business to silence a porn star whom he cheated on you with four months after Barron was born, then by God, Melania is gonna bury that. This trial could have been her opportunity to actually stand up and make a powerful statement saying, listen, yeah, he had the affair. I get that. It was a troubling time for us. This has been a troubling time, but we moved on. Our relationship was repaired and rebuilt. You could have been a leader, but instead you're just as opportunistic as the rest of 'em.
