3:29Now PlayingFor some reason Donald Trump’s campaign thought that it would be a good idea to play the Celine Dion classic “My Heart Will Go On” at his rally in Montana, and it created an absolute nightmare for Trump. In addition to everyone pointing out that the song was featured in the movie Titanic (and we all understand that metaphor for Trump’s campaign,) Celine Dion and Sony Music had to issue a statement saying that they cannot use the song – and made a point to mock them for even using it in the first place. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what happened.

You know how you can tell, like one really good sign that your campaign is just not doing well at all is when Celine Dion comes out and just absolutely roast your butt. And that is what happened to Donald Trump following his rally in Bozeman, Montana this past weekend. You see, for some reason, whoever it is working at Donald Trump's campaign, decided that it would be a good idea to add to their playlist of music. The Celine Dion Classic Hit My Heart Will Go On, which everybody on the planet associates with the movie Titanic, because it was written for that soundtrack. It was featured heavily in the movie. So My Heart Will Go On is of course, forever associated with one of the biggest maritime disasters in the history of humanity. In other words, somebody thought it would be a fun idea to put a song essentially about a sinking ship on Donald Trump's campaign playlist.
Now, technically the song is not about the sinking ship, but due to the association, it's about a sinking ship, okay? And Donald Trump's campaign is of course, as everybody on social media pointed out a sinking ship at this point. So yes, it makes total sense for him to come out and play. My Heart will go on because right now you can hear that sad slow music as the ship slowly goes into the water, never to be seen again. 'cause that's what's happening to Trump's campaign. But as I said, it's not just that they put that imagery in people's minds that his campaign is a sinking ship. No, it's the fact that Celine Dion and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada, came out, issued a long statement basically telling Trump like, you can't use this song. You cannot, you didn't ask permission. Hell no, you're not gonna do it. But it's the closing line where they said this, that really got to him. In no way is this use authorized. And Celine Dion does not endorse this, or any similar use and really that song.
So even Celine Dion's, people were like, really? Dude, you're gonna go with the song associated with the sinking ship to get people jazzed up before you come out on stage. I mean, even if Donald Trump's campaign wasn't a sinking ship, right now, when you're holding a rally, what do you want? You want energy, you want enthusiasm. You don't come out to a slow song by Celine Dion. like that doesn't make any sense. You want, you want rock, you want pop, you want something upbeat and happy that you can kind of come out to and do your weird little dance. You can't do this to my heart will go on. I know I tried, but this is where Trump's campaign is. It's so bad that everybody, of course is now associating
It with a sinking ship. And even Celine Dion had to come out and say, not only are you not allowed to use my likeness, but you're pretty much a big giant idiot for using that song in a campaign rally.
