Republicans Vote AGAINST Measure To Stop ICE From Deporting US Citizens

The House Judiciary Committee met this week to go over some potential amendments to the great big, beautiful budget bill. They're supposed to be passing any given day now, but, you know, they're still arguing with each other about it. But, um, one of the things that was proposed as an amendment by Democratic representative, um, Pramila Jayapal, was an amendment that essentially codifies that the US cannot deport US citizens. Very simple, right? Let's put this amendment in the bill that says, Donald Trump can't deport US citizens. That should be a no-brainer, right? That should be something that everybody in Congress who swore an oath to the Constitution, that also tells us this, that, yeah, we, we should go ahead and do this. Why not? Right? Well, nope. Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee voted down the budget amendment that would've prevented Donald Trump from legally being allowed to deport US citizens.

I honestly, like I should just stopping, right? Uh, stop talking right now. 'cause there's nothing I can add to that to make it even worse than it is. But I'm gonna keep talking for just a moment because this me off to no end. What republicans in the House of Representatives did this week was effectively tell Donald Trump, go ahead and deport us citizens. We're not gonna stop you. We have the opportunity and we're voting it down. We're voting down a law that would've prevented us citizens from being deported. That's a green light for Donald Trump. And we know for a fact, US citizens have already been deported US citizens. Three of them under the age of eight were deported. Last week alone, last Friday, to be exact, a 2-year-old, a 4-year-old with metastatic cancer and a 7-year-old all deported with their mothers to Honduras. Those children were born here in the United States.

They of course, have birthright citizenship, which Trump wants to end, but they were US citizens and they were deported. Donald Trump has also made it explicitly clear that he wants to deport people in prisons here in the United States to prisons over in other countries. So he wants to deport US citizens. They have deported US citizens. So this is not a hypothetical, this is not something Republicans can say, well, we didn't pass it because we don't need it, because it doesn't happen. Nope, it's happening. It's happened in the last week, and Trump wants to do even more of it. He has
