House Republicans Force Rule Change To Prevent Democrats From Investigating Trump

House Republicans are so terrified of Democrats being able to force investigations into the Trump administration that they have put forward a motion that would change House rules to prevent the minority Party from being able to force inquiries and request information about the administration. This is a clear sign that House Republicans know Trump is acting outside the law, but they would rather conceal and allow it as opposed to exposing and stopping it. Congress had been in recess for a little over two weeks before they came back on Monday and immediately said, all right, we're back to work now. We had a couple weeks off. It was nice. Uh, we gotta do some things. And you know, they, they got a big, old, beautiful budget bill, as they call it, that they've gotta get passed. But first, before we work on the budget, we have to protect Donald Trump from any investigations. Even though a vast majority of the public, 77% of them already are calling for investigations into Pete Hegseth for Signal Gate one and two House Republicans. Immediately on Monday, push forward a motion to change the house rules so that Democrats could not call an inquiry into Signal Gate or by extension any other scandal that the Trump administration is involved in. So before Republicans on Monday decided, let's get to work on the budget, they decided we have to protect Donald Trump because this guy is screwing up left and right, and by God, we can't let the Democrats start looking into it.

Republicans know Trump is so lawless that they are now making it impossible to investigate him am. But here's what happened. The House Committee, the House Rules Committee, which speaker Mike Johnson controls quietly advanced a Measure Monday that would halt the legislative body from voting on any resolutions of inquiry. One of the exceedingly few ways that the minority party, which is the Democrats, can force Congress to conduct oversight of Trump's shockingly lawless, careless, and increasingly authoritarian administration. The move comes as Democrats push resolutions, demanding answers about the Trump administration's signal gate leak scandal, and one of the measures from the Democrats and the House Armed Services Committee would demand that defense Secretary Pete, he's supply information about America's attack on the Houthis in Yemen, as well as information about rules governing how classified or sensitive information is handled at the Pentagon. Resolutions of inquiry are one of the few ways the Democrats can currently influence what goes on the resolutions specifically allow them to demand answers from the administration. The resolutions are privileged and have a deadline of 14 legislative days. If a majority party on a committee fails to report a resolution of inquiry to the house, within that time, the resolution can be called to the floor without the speaker's permission.

But now they've pushed a motion to just get rid of that until September 30th. Right? We're not getting rid of it forever because we may not be in the majority forever. We're just suspending it until September 30th, by which time we hope everybody will have forgotten about Signal

Gate, right? This is lawlessness, and honestly, it's the dumbest effing thing I think I've ever seen from Republicans. And that's saying a lot because they know, they see the same polls that we talk about almost every day at this point. The public hates everything Trump has done. The public wants investigations. Now, Republicans in Congress could emerge as the heroes here, right? You guys are in charge. You could actually do this, hold him accountable, possibly impeach him if you wanted to. You have the numbers and then boom, he's out of the way. You guys get your hands cleaned. You emerge as the heroes. Maybe you don't face the massive, uh, political slaughter that you're already predicting is gonna happen to you in next year's midterms.
