So Donald Trump has apparently found his new favorite talking point. And that is that, yeah, prices are gonna go up because of my tariffs and my trade war. But does your daughter really need $30? She just needs two. And those two are also still gonna cost a lot more. But that's the talking point. That is what he has now, repeatedly said over the last few days, like, Hey, your little girl doesn't need so many dolls. And he says, this is ridiculous. Let's not even talk about it. I mean, he literally did say that. He said, let's not waste a lot of time on this stupid question. So what Trump is doing, of course, is reducing a valid argument to its most ridiculous proportions, right? Like, Americans are freaking out because they can't buy their daughter. 30 doll. Literally no one in this country is freaking out about your trade war due to the sole fact that their Barbie dolls are gonna cost more.

That's not a thing. There is nobody who opposes the trade war solely because the price of dolls is going up, except maybe the people at Mattel. But outside of there, that's not anybody's real concern. What we're concerned about is the fact that your trade war is driving up the cost of consumer goods, consumer electronics, automobiles, food, medicine. Those are the real things that voters are of course, concerned about. But Trump doesn't wanna address that. So he reduces it to this ridiculous argument that, oh, shut the hell up. You can't buy five dolls. Deal with it. You don't need that many dolls. Anyway, again, people are worried about the cost of their medication 'cause those tariffs are coming in a week. You said they're worried about the cost of buying a new car. They're worried about the cost of getting their current car fixed, but most importantly, they're worried about groceries and the items they need to survive. And that, of course, is why former vice president Mike Pence did an interview with CNN this week where he admitted that Donald Trump is killing the American dream, except he did seem a little hyperfocused on the doll issue, which was very weird to me. Here is what Mike Pence said, keeping dolls affordable, keeping our kids' toys affordable. That really is part of the American dream.

I mean, I, I guess, right? You know, part of the American dream is having a good childhood for your kids. And I guess toys are, are, are a part of that. But I mean, buying more dolls is not necessarily what you think of when you think of the American dream. So he's gotta, is I I I, I don't wanna give him credit because he is a horrible human being and he is very evil, but I guess his, his heart's in the right place, but his brain isn't, is the best way to say that. But Pence did consent, uh, continue, and he said later on in the interview, I do have concerns that with the president's call for broad-based tariffs against friend and FOA alike,

That ultimately the administration is advancing policies that are not targeted at countries that have been abusing our trade relationship, but rather are essentially new industrial policy that will result in inflation, that will harm consumers and ultimately harm the American economy. All right, now he's back on track. I think the American people are going to see the consequences of this. I think they'll demand a different approach. And I think that approach is free trade with free nations. Let's use the leverage, the threat of terrorists to negotiate down trade barriers with free nations, even while we stand firm with China and others.
