Donald Trump, the convicted felon President of the United States, has been telling lie after lie about crime rates in this country for well over a year, but his decision to deploy the National Guard and take over the Washington, D.C. police force this week is not rooted anywhere close to reality. Crime rates in DC have fallen faster than the national averages, similar to the other cities that Trump mentioned could be “next.” The man is lying in order to become a dictator, as Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains.

On Monday, Donald Trump announced that he was deploying the National Guard, the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Agency, all of these federal authorities onto the streets of Washington, DC because by God, crime is absolutely outta control. At least that's what he wants us to believe. Of course, the statistics do not bear that out. So Donald Trump, on Monday, a convicted felon ranting about crime in DC lied his face off in order to become an authoritarian leader. This is of course, the second time in roughly 200 days as president that Donald Trump has deployed the National Guard on the streets of the United States. And based on what Trump told us Monday, this just the beginning, New York, Chicago, Oakland, Baltimore, all those cities are likely next, which of course is ironic. I mean, Republicans have used Chicago as an example of outta control crime for years. Uh, Chicago's not even to the top five.
No, uh, actually most of the states with the highest crime rates are in fact located in red states. I think eight out of 10 of the cities with the highest crime rates in the US are all located in red states, but there's no national guards deplete, uh, being deployed to those cities. No FBI agents roaming the parks in red states where crime actually is increasing. So, you know, little weird, little suspicious, but not actually at all. This is what Donald Trump wants. And of course, we are now getting reports that he, uh, is trying to come up with a plan to rapidly mobilize more National Guard troops to quell civil unrest. Those reports, of course, out early Tuesday morning, this is just the beginning. As Donald Trump promised us, this is what he wants. He doesn't want those troops out there to actually stop crime. There's not much for them to do.
What he wants is for the public to react. He wants somebody to go and do something to a member of the National Guard, like the video floating around Monday afternoon of a guy throwing his, uh, uh, you know, sub sandwich at an officer and them being chased by like five of them. Trump wants more of that so that he can use it as an excuse to invoke the insurrection Act and go ahead and start locking all of us up and put us in a full and total police state. This is how it starts. LA was how it started. And because he thinks he did a good job there. He's now doing it in DC and threatening New York, Baltimore, Oakland, Chicago, all cities that, by the way, have also seen their crime rates go down. As for the out of control crime in Washington DC violent crime is down 26% and robberies are down 28%.
In just the last year, Baltimore, New York and Oakland have also seen massive drops in their crime rates. Baltimore's drop in crime rate has been one of the largest we've ever seen in this country, but Donald Trump knows there's a lot of black people there. So he always singles that out. That's why they single out Chicago. That's why he singled out Oakland. It's racism that he's using to try to convince us that these crime rates are out of control. And once he does that, once he convinces us that we need this kind of security, he is protecting he or or providing, he will expand it. That is the playbook. That is the agenda right now. Folks, this is not a warning anymore. It's happening.
