Consumers across the United States better be ready to start paying their Trump tax. As businesses large and small have officially announced that the price hikes are being implemented. Right now, the latest company, massive nationwide company to make this announcement was Home Depot. After they had their earnings call for the second quarter of the year. This week, CEO announced we have no choice. We are paying more because of the tariffs. We have to pass this along to consumers. Here's what he said. For some imported goods, tariff rates are significantly higher today than they were at this time last quarter. So as you would expect, there will be modest price movement in some categories, but it won't be broad-based. I love CEO speak, don't you? There's gonna be modest price movement. No, no, just say it bud. You have to raise prices because Donald Trump made the cost of the things you're bringing in to sell more expensive.
And we, the consumers, as we've all been saying for years now, are the ones who pay the price. So it's a Trump tax, it's not a tariff. Folks, when you go to the store, if you're going to Home Depot to buy lumber, if you're going to the grocery store to buy cereal or produce or meat, beef at the highest prices it's ever been in America, if you're going to buy a new car or even a used car, used car prices are actually rising faster than, than new cars for some reason. No matter what it is, A computer, a cell phone, every time you buy that and the price is higher than it was, you know, six months ago or the last time you purchased it, just remember it's 'cause you are paying the Trump tax. And that is what we need to start calling this. These are not tariffs. This is the Trump tax. And the Trump tax is paid by American consumers. And of course, in recent days, Donald Trump has been out there on truth social bragging about the billions and billions of dollars that has tariffs are bringing into the federal government. But that's your money. That's money he took from you. That's going to the federal government. So when he brags about it, he is bragging about taking money away from you, about making the things you need to live your life more expensive. It is the Trump tax. I want that phrase to be what encapsulates all the talking points, all the media, all the data memes, the Trump tax, because that is what we are paying and that is what we need to start calling it starting right now. Thanks for watching everybody. And if
