Many red states, and even some swing states, are preemptively cutting Medicaid services in order to make up for severe budget shortfalls, leaving millions of residents unable to receive any care at all. The reduced – and sometimes eliminated – payments are also putting care facilities at risk of closing by the end of the year, with more coming after next year’s cuts.
