BNC’s Astrid Martinez joined Sharon Reed and Mike Hill on Start Your Day live from Washington D.C.
Martinez says law enforcement agencies are taking the threat seriously due to the deadly insurrection that took place in January. Online chatter from right-wing militia group the Three Percenters reveals that the threat could last until March 6th.
Martinez says security is heightened and the National Guard is on scene.
A joint intelligence bulletin was sent to state law enforcement agencies by the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI. Titled, “National Capital Region Remains Attractive Target for Domestic Violent Extremists” it states that extremists were inspired by the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.
The report lists government and law enforcement as possible targets. It also cites a QAnon conspiracy theory that former President Donald Trump will be inaugurated on the same day as the attacks.
It is believed that March 4 was selected specifically because it is the date the U.S. Constitution was made effective in the country and it was the original inauguration date before being moved to January in 1933.
