3:21Now PlayingThe trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin will begin on Monday after several days of jury selection. A total of 15 jurors were selected, including twelve seated and three alternates. One alternate will be dismissed on Monday. BNC Legal Correspondent Candace Kelley joined Start Your Day with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss the upcoming trial. Kelley said the opening statements in the trial are "key and crucial." She said attorneys for the state will focus on the May 2020 viral video that shows Chauvin's knee on George Floyd's neck. Kelley added that both sides will be careful not to have subjects "convoluted" by the issue of race.
