Now, we're learning herd immunity may be unlikely and the virus may be a reality we live with. Dr. Frita Fisher, the Founder and President of Midtown Atlanta Nephrology, joined "Start Your Day" with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss. Fisher said if the country does not reach herd immunity, marginalized groups will suffer the most. "It is very important for Black and Brown people to get vaccinated," she said. Citing the need for the country to reach 80% for herd immunity, Dr. Fisher said herd immunity changes based on a variant's transmissibility. To combat this, she recommends people get vaccinated against COVID-19, take care of their health, and practice good hygiene.
