10:23Now PlayingThirty-six years ago, the nation watched as the city of Philadelphia burned. The mayor authorized the bombing of a home occupied by a revolutionary group called MOVE, who fought against injustice and police misconduct. More than three decades later, there have been new calls for justice after 11 people, including five children, were killed and an entire section of the city was burned to the ground. Temple University Professor Linn Washington covered the bombing and he joined "Start Your Day" with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss the events. "That day remains seared in my mind. It was one of the most horrible things I've seen," Washington said. He also noted that after the bombing, officials used fire as a weapon and allowed it to continue to burn. Police shot at members of the organization as they tried to escape. No politicians, police officers, or firefighters were prosecuted for their involvement.
