6:54Now PlayingBNC’s Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Nayyera Haq joins ”Start Your Day” to discuss a potential ceasefire between Israel and Palestine to prevent further loss of civilian life in the ongoing conflict. The call to stop the violence does not seem to be mutual
“We are hearing conflicting reports,” Haq co-host says. “The problem with a ceasefire is that both sides have to want it. Civilians, absolutely, Palestinian and Israeli want the attacks to stop. But Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it very clear that he wants to run a campaign that roots out the terrorist group Hamas.”
“The World Tonight” co-host also discusses wanting the U.S. government to have a public discourse about what they are doing to improve the conflict. More than 25 Democratic senators released a joint statement calling for an immediate ceasefire. However, the Biden administration has been advised to not discuss the issue publicly.
