“It’s a wariness that we often experience when you’re not only dealing with issues of racism on a constant basis, you’re being barraged by issues of racism throughout the media,” Royal says. “Recently, we’re also teaching about issues of race and racism and it makes us wary.”
Royal adds that social media plays a role in traumatizing Black pain, leading to the departure.
