5:40Now PlayingMemphis, in celebration of Juneteenth, is hosting their Freedom and Heritage Fest in a park where a KKK leader was buried.
Festival organizer Telisa Franklin joined “BNC Live” with Laverne McGee to explain why the festival decided to move this year. Franklin stated that the celebration has made several moves around the city over the years. This year, they decided that it was time to make steps towards teaching future generations the importance of that location.
“We needed a move for healing because if truly we are going to move forward, we to move forward with freedom of mind, body and soul,” Franklin explained
