4:47Now PlayingThis week, legislators in Congress voted overwhelmingly to make Juneteenth a national holiday. President Biden signed the measure into law on Thursday, making it the 12th federal holiday and the second holiday relating to Black Americans. Dr. Sonya Shuler-Okoli, a professor of Leadership Studies at Beulah Heights University, joins "BNC Live" with Tashanea Whitlow to discuss Juneteenth and its significance. Shuler-Okoli says the story of Juneteenth echoes in many African American households, and all Americans should celebrate the holiday so that it finally gets the recognition it deserves.
