Dr. Fran E. Cook-Bolden is the Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Cornell University, and she also works in private practice in New York City. She joins "Start Your Day" with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss the importance of protecting skin from the sun. While skin cancer is less common in Black skin, the prognosis is not good when skin cancer is diagnosed in skin of color. "A lot of the times when skin color is diagnosed in skin of color is diagnosed very late and at an advanced stage," Cook-Bolden said, adding that curing it is difficult because of spreading.
