8:35Now PlayingMore than one year after Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd in May 2020, and two months after he was found guilty of second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter and third-degree murder, he was finally sentenced to 22.5 years in prison.
Chauvin's defense attorneys were hoping for probation and his mother delivered an impact statement on his behalf. State prosecutors were pushing for 30 years and members of the Floyd family spoke in court about how George’s murder impacted their lives. Veteran prosecutor and BNC legal contributor Paul Henderson joins "Making the Case w/Yodit" to break down the sentencing, discuss the victim impact statements and analyze Judge Peter Cahill's ruling.
