6:28Now PlayingDerek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who killed George Floyd, was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison.
As the sentencing began, four victim statements were presented, starting with Floyd's daughter Gianna. She spoke about how she missed her father and wished she could play with him. Floyd's nephew, Brandon Williams, and his brothers Terrence and Philonese Floyd, also spoke about how the murder impacted them. The last statement was from Derek Chauvin's mother, who failed to acknowledge the Floyd family, while Chauvin himself spoke directly to them.
