3:22Now PlayingOn "Making the Case w/Yodit," host Yodit Tewolde opens today's show discussing the sentencing of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, for the murder of George Floyd.
She says she has a mixture of emotions. On one hand, she feels a sense of relief that the case has finally reached this point, but on the other hand, she has strong feelings about the 22.5-year sentence. Citing the reality that Floyd cannot be brought back to life, she says even if Chauvin would have received the maximum sentence, nothing will bring Floyd back to his family. She also says that it is not enough to change the criminal legal system.
