11:06Now PlayingThe Texas Senate have passed a bill that would eliminate teaching requirements on some lessons about the civil rights movement and the women's suffrage movement.
The vote was 18-4, as it also removes teaching requirements for more than 24 historical figures, events and documents, which include Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech and the Ku Klux Klan. Many educators and opponents of the bill have highlighted that accurately teaching history would be virtually impossible with so many restrictions on subject matter.
