9:22Now PlayingA campaign called "Stack the Deck Against Hate" has recently been launched to celebrate transgender athletes. A card deck itself, it includes trading cards featuring two-time state wrestling champion Mack Beggs and five-time national amateur boxing champion Patricio Manuel. LGBTQ+ nonprofit Athlete Ally, in collaboration with Lambda Legal, an organization dedicated to civil rights for gay men, lesbians and transgender people, have recycled bills of hate and turned them into cards of inspiration.
They are also raising money to battle anti-transgender sports bans like the many being enacted in numerous states across the nation.
Manuel, who is the first transgender professional male boxer, and Sherise Bright, chief communications officer at Lambda Legal, join Marc Lamont Hill on “Black News Tonight” to talk about the "Stack the Deck Against Hate" campaign.
All this and more on “Black News Tonight.”
