North Carolina is one step closer to joining the group of states banning the teaching of the theory in schools. The Ensuring Dignity and Nondiscrimination in Schools Act passed 25 to 17 in the state’s Senate. It prohibits the teaching of concepts of what is assumed by the GOP lawmakers to be parts of critical race theory.
It is now on Governor Roy Cooper’s desk. Democratic state Senator Natalie Murdock, who voted against the bill, joins Marc Lamont Hill via phone on “Black News Tonight” to discuss the legislation
