2:32Now PlayingFlorida’s governor and commissioner of education are making good on a threat to withhold funding from local school districts if they defy their ban on mask mandates.
The governor is targeting Alachua and Broward school districts. The governor and commissioner withheld funding from these school districts, despite a judge's ruling which stated the ban was unconstitutional.
The Commissioner of Education states the funds will continue to be withheld until the districts comply. This ruling comes as the Biden Department of Education has announced a civil rights investigation into five Republican led states that have banned or limited mask requirements in schools. Letters were sent to Iowa, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Utah.
