According to one study by the JAMA Network, between 2013 and 2019, the suicide rate among Black males ages 15 to 24 spiked by 47%, and 59% among Black girls. The same study shows a decrease in suicide among young white people.
Dr. Rhonda C. Boyd, psychologist in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, joins Charles Blow on “Prime” to discuss the suicide cases.
