7:37Now Playing“Black News Tonight” host Marc Lamont Hill reports the most recent census may have heavily undercounted Black Americans, according to an analysis from two different reputable sources.
The disproportionate rates are alarming, sitting at three times higher than the census in 2010. The undercounting of Black children may be up to 10 times higher than a decade ago. Hill says this could, of course, cause severe issues in Black communities when it comes to fair representation and funding.
Jeri Green, a 2020 census senior advisor at the National Urban League, joins Hill to make sense of the data as well as discuss the potential negative impacts of underreporting.
