10:00Now PlayingFifty years ago, people incarcerated at Attica, the infamous maximum-security prison in New York, staged an uprising.
The 1971 rebellion is retold in an upcoming documentary. Told through the eyes of the remaining witnesses, “Attica” takes us through those five momentous days that ended with the deadliest state sponsored prison massacre in the history of America, in which 43 people lost their lives.
Director Stanley Nelson, co-director and producer Traci Curry and James Asbury, who lived through the Attica Uprising, joined Marc Lamont Hill on “Black News Tonight” to discuss the documentary.
