1:37Now PlayingFrom police reform to reparations, voters are selecting yes or no in several key referendums.
In Minneapolis, voters are deciding if the police department should be replaced with a department of public safety.
Residents in Cleveland are also looking to take police reform into their own hands. They’re voting on issue 24 on the ballot, which would change the city’s charter and shift oversight of the police department to civilian hands.
In Detroit, there’s a push to establish a reparations task force. If approved, the group will make recommendations for housing and economic development programs.
BNC’s Shannon LaNier talks about these ballot issues.
