7:17Now PlayingOne population that has been hit hard by the current economic climate is that of the formerly incarcerated.
While it is common for them to struggle to obtain housing and employment, many are also saddled with expenses related to their incarceration.
To address this, one Florida county has partnered with Community Spring, a non-profit whose aim is to provide the formerly incarcerated with guaranteed income. The project, known as “Just Income GNV,” will provide some chosen former inmates with $1,000 in January of 2022, and $600 a month for a year to help in their re-entry into society.
Kevin Scott, project manager for “Just Income GNV,” joins Charles Blow on “Prime” to discuss the importance of formerly incarcerated to have some income.
All this and more on “Prime.”
