13:20Now PlayingJury selection begins Monday in the trial of former “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, who is accused of lying to authorities and staging an attack fueled by racism and homophobia.
The trial comes after 16 felony counts of disorderly conduct were unexpectedly dropped in 2020. Former prosecutor Marie Pereira and criminal defense attorney Karen Felecia Nance join “BNC Live” host Tashanea Whitlow to discuss the ongoing incident. According to Nance, Smollett is now facing six counts related to him lying to law enforcement officers. If convicted, Smollett faces up to three years in prison.
