2:56Now Playing“BNC Live” host Laverne McGee says a conservative group is going to court over a law that California Governor Gavin Newsom enacted last year.
The law requires California companies to appoint people of color, women and members of the LGBTQ+ community to their board of directors. Supporters of the law says it guarantees diversity in leadership positions, but opponents say it’s discriminatory. BNC correspondent Walter Morris joins McGee live to discuss the law. Pacific Legal Foundation attorney Daniel Ortner says while diversity in the workplace is a good thing, it cannot be mandated or forced by the state. By doing so, the government and companies are stripping individuals of every other aspect aside from their skin color and gender.
