Dec 8, 20219:06Now PlayingOpening statements are beginning in the trial for former Brooklyn Center police officer Kim Potter.
She is charged with manslaughter for shooting and killing Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old Black man. Potter was a 26-year police veteran who resigned two days after the shooting. Wright was a young father and his loved ones described him as a person who always wanted to make others laugh. Nine of the jurors selected for the trial are white, one is Black and two are Asian. Many wonder how the racial makeup of the jury will impact the verdict.
BNC chief legal correspondent Laura McNeal joins "DC Today" with guest host Kelly Wright to discuss the trial.
